O SOFIA, like all of our favorites, came out of thin air during a stress-relieving jam. The desperation of the melody led us to “Sofia,” who travels from Topeka to Santa Fe, stealing the heart (and often the wallet) of everyone she meets. The sound is 1 part King Tubby, 1 part Dilla, 1 part Dirty Projectors (we asked our friend Dave Longstreth to get on it, but he was “on tour”). When we debuted the song at our rooftop show, the crowd caught on quickly and sang along. Try it and you will too.

lyrics
O Sofia, don’t wind me up, drop the fear, won’t you stay?
O Sofia, gotta see ya, like a preacher’s, gotta pray
O Sofia, I could meet ya, from Topeka, to Santa Fe
O Sofia, caught a fever, don’t you see I’m, not afraid
O Sofia, diosa mia, found a leader, for my faith
No idea, how I’ll deal, if you’re leaving, on that train
Days roll by and I wonder
When will his icy fever break?
He doesn’t see he’s one of many flames
There he goes, all torn asunder
Now watch him hyperventilate
He tried to steal my thunder far too late
