about

“Snake at the Altar” is a fiery ball of gas at the center of the solar system. It was formed by the fusion of Baird hammering his guitar with a cello bow and Gabe belting out vocal melodies as if possessed. What resulted could be nothing other than track one on South Hill’s second album, SUNSTRIKES. “Snake at the Altar” will be supported by a music video in which - no joke - Gabe runs his first marathon and Baird serenades a 9’ Burmese python. Welcome to the sunny side of the Experiment.

lyrics

We saw the carnivores
Creating a culture
They packed the parking lots,
Awaiting their martyr

Focus!
And you notice
That it’s bogus
A snake at the altar
Crawling, carve it out
You’re breaking the portrait
The fortress
So torch it, embrace the divide

They passed us to the north,
Parade of supporters
(Empty out the stores)
The gas, the corn, the gold
The shit they imported
(Won’t take it anymore)

But focus!
And you notice
That it’s bogus
A snake at the altar
Crawling, carve it out
You’re breaking the portrait
The fortress
So torch it, embrace the divide
